PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of securing a long exposure period even if any electronic endoscope is used. SOLUTION: This endoscopic device 1 is composed of an endoscope 2 incorporating a CCD 2a and provided with a CCD discriminating element 14, a light source device 5 having a DMD 23 to control if illumination light from a light source lamp 21 is incidental to a reflection mirror 24 or not on an optical path of the light source lamp 21, and a video processor 4 having a CPU 31 to discriminate a sort of the CCD 2a based on information from the CCD discriminating element 14, and detect a charge reading period to the CCD 2a based on result of discrimination, and a DMD control circuit 42 to control the DMD 23 at a reading timing to the CCD 2a in accordance with a charge reading time detected by the CPU 31. An illumination light shielding period is controlled in accordance with the sort of the CCD 2a.
