The doorstop comprises a support (1) acts as a fitting (1b) for receiving a stop element (2) which engages a part of the door leaf. The linear position of the stop element can be adjusted in the fitting as a function of the leaf thickness. One end of the stop element has a fixed profiled stop (2b) delimiting with the support a free space corresponding to the leaf thickness. The stop element other end has a counterweight (4) for ensuring its balancing in the horizontal position.
