The sealing system for an air inlet valve used to protect a water pipe (4) against fluctuations in pressure comprises a fixed sealing ring (7a) fitted in a groove in the valve body (2) where it fits against the lip of the branch pipe (1) connecting it to the main pipe. A second sealing ring (7b) is fitted around the edge of the valve body and its free edges deform to maintain a seal between the valve body and its seating, regardless of their positions. An Independent claim is included for the valve.
