PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope which can easily be inserted to a lumen by making an insertion part obtain propelling force in the direction of its tip within the lumen by simple structure so as to help the insertion part move forward. SOLUTION: The endoscope 1 has the insertion part 2, an operation part 3 and a rotary solenoid 4 installed attachably and detachably at the part 3 via a seating 9. A hitting body 5 and a transmission member 6 are installed at a passage 16 formed within the part 2. When the rotor 42 of the solenoid 4 is reciprocated, an arm 44 fitted to the rotor 42 reciprocates the rod part 62 of the member 6 along the base end part of a passage 16. Thus, the member 6 is reciprocated along the longitudinal direction of the passage 16 and the body 5 fitted at the tip of the member 6 is reciprocated repeatedly with this. The reciprocated body 5 collides with the tip wall of the passage 16 repeatedly.
