PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat back for automobile capable of determining the erectedly stopped position and forward rotated stop position of a head rest by a same stopper means. SOLUTION: This seat back for automobile comprises a head rest support member 7 installed across the upper end parts of side frames rotatably in longitudinal direction, a pressure receiving member 8 supported on the head rest support member 7 and disposed at a position capable of receiving an impact load caused by a rear-end collision, and a head rest supported on the head rest support member 7 movably in vertical direction. A stopper surface 10a provided between the lower end part 7e of the head rest support member 7 and the pressure receiving member 8 is formed in an upper cross member 10, and a cushioning member 16 is disposed on the stopper surface 10a in the state of facing both faces of the lower end part 7e of the head rest support member 7 and the pressure receiving member 8.
