PURPOSE: A measurement test instrument voltage management system is provided to confirm whether an accessory device is effective before power is supplied to the accessory device when the accessory device is connected to a measurement test instrument. CONSTITUTION: The measurement test instrument voltage management system for an accessory device(12) includes an accessory device interface(16) for providing a voltage to a memory device(22) in the accessory device(12). When a detection circuit(26) detects that the accessory device(12) is connected to the interface(16), a controller(38) supplies a clock to the memory device(22) to read the data of the accessory device(12) from the memory device(22). When the controller(38) judges that the accessory device(12) is effective and supported from the data, a voltage switching circuit(30) supplies drive voltage to the accessory device(12).
