PURPOSE: A device for controlling a position of a vehicle steering column is provided to control a tilt element and a telescopic unit by a single lever, thereby simplifying the manufacturing, mounting and manipulation of a steering column. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a position of a vehicle steering column includes a steering column(10) composed of inner and outer tubes(12) for retraction and extension, a steering shaft(20) mounted for adjusting tilt angle in the steering column, a tilt element(30) mounted at a side of the steering column for supporting the steering shaft according to the tilting of the steering shaft, a position control lever(32) controlling the tilt element by being rotated, a wire cable(90) fixed at both tilting sides of the steering shaft and incorporating a wire(91) to be pulled according to the rotation of the position control lever, a taper block moving axially by the wire and having a guide protrusion at a side surface, a lower block moved vertically by the guide protrusion and having a tapered guide groove at a side surface, a through hole connected to the outer tube for guiding the vertical movement of the lower block, and a supporting spring(95) elastically supporting the lower block to contact the lower block with the inner tube.
