Non-electrical device for evaporation of an active substance (I) comprises a flameproof paper on which is deposited a band of combustible composition (B), containing (I), that vaporizes when (B) is ignited. (B) is a paste comprising (by weight, dry basis) carbon powder 20-70%, sawdust 0-25%, starch 0-10%, sodium lignin sulfonate 0-10%, potassium nitrate 2-20%, inert materials 1-5%, (I) 0.1-10% and adhesives 1-7%. An Independent claim is also included for a non-electrical apparatus for vaporizing (I) that contains the device.
