PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a thick bent- tube capable of manufacturing an elbow material for piping with dimensional accuracy using thick piping materials. SOLUTION: An upper guide aperture 11GA through which a pressing die 12 passes, and a circular guide surface 11a to guide a lower die 20, an upper guide 11 provided with a support 11S mounted by a pair of lower dies 21, 22, the pair of lower dies 21, 22 having circular sliding surfaces 20c, 20c, and a lower guide 30 having sliding surfaces 30a, 30a are provided and the circular sliding surfaces 20c, 20c of the pair of lower dies 21, 22, working with the lowering of the upper guide 11, abut and slide along the circular guide surface 11a of each upper guide 11, and the method and the apparatus for manufacturing the thick bent-tube capable of respectively rotating the pair of lower dies 21, 22 opposed to each other by abutting and sliding the lower end sections 20f, 20f of the pair of lower dies 21, 22 along the sliding surfaces 30a, 30a of the lower guide are provided.
