PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, an image distortion correcting method, a storage medium and an image forming device by which a scanned image of a book original can be corrected even when a page filing part of the book original is perpendicular to a direction of main scanning. SOLUTION: A circum-rectangle of a character is extracted from a read scanning image(step S1), distortion in an original image is estimated by utilizing a change in the shape of the extracted circum-rectangle of the character (steps S2-S7), and magnification processing is applied to the scanned image on the basis of the estimated image (step S8). Thus, even when the page filing part of the book original is perpendicular to the direction of the main scanning, since there arises a change in the shape of the extracted circum-rectangle of the character, the scanned image of the book original can be corrected. |
