PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demineralizing method for obtaining pure water by removing not only calcium ions and magnesium ions but also silica in raw water by using a liquid passage type electric double layer capacitor. SOLUTION: When the raw water is demineralized by passing through the liquid passage type electric double layer capacitor 2, plural steps in the liquid passage type electric double layer capacitors 2 are prepared. Alkali is added to treated water obtained from a previous step using the liquid passage type electric double layer capacitor 2 to ionize the silica contained in the treated water and then the treated water to which the alkali is added is made pass through a latter step of the liquid passage type electric double layer capacitor 2.
