PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actuate an engine brake at advance traveling and release the brake at reverse traveling for providing pleasant feeling, without a sense of incongruity for a vehicle comprising a V-belt type continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: This device comprises a speed sensor 110, a advance/reverse traveling discrimination sensor 111 for discriminating advance traveling state from reverse traveling state of the vehicle, and an engine brake device for restricting opening of a drive pulley 26 of the V-belt type continuously variable transmission 15 for actuating the engine brake. The device also comprises an engine brake controlling device for canceling restricting opening of the drive pulley 26 for releasing the brake. A rotor for detecting 115, mounted on a rotating member for discriminating the advance/reverse traveling has at least three protrusions for detecting 120, 121, 122 arranged in the circumferential direction at irregular intervals. |
