<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism which can count data received, transferred, or dropped by an ATM switch without including any redundancy in the data. SOLUTION: There is provided a process in which ATM cells are switched by using an ATM switch in an ATM network. The ATM switch has a primary component which switches the cells and a secondary component which switches the cells when the primary component is failed. Then, there is provided a process in which the cells that have been received, transferred, or dropped by the switch are counted without including any redundancy and the process is achieved by a method wherein both the primary and secondary components switch the cells via the switch.</p> |
