PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a propylene-α,ω-diene random copolymer having excellent foamability or strain curability (a behavior causing a viscosity increase with an increasing amount of strain during uniaxial extension and deformation under melting) and to provide a method for producing the propylene-α,ω-diene random copolymer by which the copolymer can be produced with a good productivity. SOLUTION: This propylene-α,ω-diene random copolymer is obtained by carrying out random copolymerization of propylene with anα,ω-diene in the presence of a catalyst composed of (A) a compound component of a group 4 transition metal of the periodic table, (B) an organoaluminumoxy compound component and (C) an organoaluminum compound component and has 1-30 wt.% content of an insoluble matter in boiling p-xylene. The method for producing the propylene-α,ω-diene random copolymer is characterized by carrying out the random copolymerization of the propylene with theα,ω-diene in the presence of the catalyst and providing the propylene-α,ω-diene random copolymer having 1-30 wt.% content of the insoluble matter in the boiling p-xylene.
