PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic elevator capable of solving such problems that the number of parts is large since the column of a car frame is installed separately from a hydraulic jack to increase the cost of each part and the cost of the elevator is increased, and that a working to digging a hole for burying the cylinder is required since the cylinder is buried in the ground to further increase the cost. SOLUTION: This hydraulic elevator comprises a first hydraulic jack having a first plunger with the tip thereof fixed to the bottom part of a hoistway and a first cylinder for storing the rear end side of the first plunger, a second hydraulic jack having a second plunger with the tip thereof fixed to the bottom part of the hoistway and a second cylinder for storing the rear end side of the second plunger, a hydraulic power unit for supplying and discharging hydraulic fluid to and from the first and second cylinders through supply and discharge tubes, and a car fixed to the first and second cylinders and vertically moved in the hoistway by the supply of the hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic power unit to the first and second cylinders and the discharge of the hydraulic fluid from the first and second cylinders to the hydraulic power unit.
