When corresponding title information cannot be retrieved, a flag information of 'no title information available' is imparted to the audio data and is recorded. If updated title information is provided from an optical disk, etc., and added to the database domain DB, a title information corresponding to the audio data with a remark 'no title information available' is searched automatically. If corresponding title information is found, the title information is imparted to the audio data, and is recorded on the storage domain ST.
