PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the air from entering an ink supply path when an ink tank or a recording head is to be replaced. SOLUTION: An ink supply unit 5 to which a main tank 4 is detachably mounted and which has a shut-off valve 10, and the recording head 1 connected via a supply tube 6 to the unit are loaded to a carriage 2. The carriage 2 is covered with a jacket 12 having a tank cover 12a and a carriage cover 12e fitted thereto. Replacing the main tank 4 is obstructed by the tank cover 12a except in a state in which the main tank is replaceable, e.g. the shut-off valve 10 is closed, a recording operation stops, etc. Replacing the recording head 1 is obstructed by the jacket 12 in accordance with a position of the carriage 2 except in a state in which the recording head 1 is replaceable, e.g. no ink is present in the supply tube 6 or the shut-off valve 10 is shut. |
