PURPOSE: A method of recording data in a defective disc is provided to prevent data from being recorded in a defective region of a disc when the data is recorded in the disc and to reproduce the data while skipping the defective region. CONSTITUTION: When a defective region of an optical disc is detected while external input data is recorded in the optical disc, the recording position right before the defective region is temporarily stored. A normal recording area after the defective region is searched and data is continuously recorded in the normal area. Information for reproducing the data while skipping the defective region is recorded in the temporarily stored recording position. The defective region of the optical disc is detected based on a variation in focus error or absolute time information.
