PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holder for cutting insert used in machining a chip removing machine. SOLUTION: This tool bolder comprises an insert seat (3), and the insert seat comprises two side faces (9a, 9b) allowed to abut on the side edge of a cutting insert (13) when the cutting insert (13) is installed in the insert seat (3). The tool holder further comprises a member for tightening the cutting insert (13) to the insert seat (3) or a member (19) for receiving tightening members (15, 18) for the cutting insert (13). The features of the tool holder are that a slot (22) is disposed adjacent to the insert seat (3), the slot (22) extends generally in the same direction as that of one side face (9b), and the side faces (9a, 9b) are positioned on the longitudinal both sides of the slot in the vertical direction of the slot (22). |
