PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of tapping performed by a tapping unit to be mounted on a machine tool such as a press. SOLUTION: The tapping unit comprises a tap 7 held by a tap carrier 17 screwed in a pattern 8 held and fixed in casings 61, 62, 63 against rotation. The tap 7, the tap carrier 17 and the pattern 8 have limited amplitudes during axial translation and radial movement in the casings to form a movable subsidiary assembly, and the tap 7 can follow the undesirable motion of parts to be tapped. |
