PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet printer in which the characteristics (ΔV/ΔT) of variation rate for varying the output voltage as the temperature of each diode varies must be consistent when the temperature is measured at a plurality of points in an ink jet printer using a temperature detection diode, but when diodes of different characteristics can be built in the same printer for reasons of feeding parts, burden on parts management can be lessened. SOLUTION: A table 12 representing correspondence of the ID information and the voltage of each diode having different temperature characteristics is held in the nonvolatile memory in a printer. At the time of assembling the printer, IDs of all diodes being used are written in an ID managing section 13. Based on information read out from the table 12 using a voltage actually detected at a detecting section 15 and each ID information as keys, a drive control section 17 performs a processing for stopping the driving or a processing for reducing the amount of job.
