PURPOSE: Provided is a cathode active material composition for a lithium secondary battery, which contains metal hydroxide, metal oxyhydroxide, metal oxycarbonate, metal hydroxycarbonate, or a mixture thereof, therefore has excellent cycle lifetime property and thermal stability. CONSTITUTION: The cathode active material composition contains: a cathode active material containing at least one lithium compound selected from the formula 1-9(formula 1: LixMn1-yM'yA2, formula 2: LixMn1-yM'yO2-zAz, formula 3: LixMn2O4-zAz, formula 4: LixMn2-yM'yA4, formula 5:LixM1-yM"yA2, formula 6: LixMO2-zAz, formula 7: LixNi1-yCoyO2-zAz, formula 8: LixNi1-y-zCoyM"zAα, and formula 9: LixNi1-y-zMnyM'zAα); at least one additive selected from the group consisting of the metal hydroxide, the metal oxyhydroxide, the metal oxycarbonate, the metal hydroxycarbonate, or the mixture thereof, wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of Mg, Al, Co, K, Na, Ca, Si, Ti, Sn, V, Ge, Ga, B, As, and Zr. In the formulas, 0.95<=x<=1.1, 0<=y<=0.5, 0<=z<= 0.5, 0<a<=2, M is Ni or Co, M' is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Cr, Fe, Mg, Sr, V, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, and etc., M'' is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Mn, Cr, Fe, Mg, Sr, V, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, and etc., and A is an element selected from the group consisting of O, F, S, and P. |
