PURPOSE: An apparatus for servicing the ring designation of a terminal and a method therefor are provided to receive voice and sound files, use the received voice and sound files as a ring of the terminal, and perform a message transmission using the voice and sound files. CONSTITUTION: A voice server(21) stores voice and sound data and provides functions so that a user can select desired contents. A contents server(22) manages voice and sound information. The voice server(21) has a voice selection module(211) for transmitting a voice record guidance broadcasting and receiving the voice of the user, and a voice record module(212) for recording the voice of the user and compressing recorded information as voice data with an ADPCM(Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) format through a vocoder. The voice server(21) has a voice data converting module(213) for converting the voice file with the ADPCM format recorded in the voice record module(212) into a voice file with an EVRC(Enhanced Valuable Rate Code) format suitable for an MS(Mobile Station)(11) or a user PC(17). The contents server(22) has a contents management module(221) for storing contents such as the voice file and the sound file with the ADPCM format and the EVRC format in a contents DB(222), extracting a corresponding contents corresponding to the voice of the user from the contents DB(222), and providing the extracted contents to the MS(11) or the user PC(17). The contents management module(221) extracts corresponding contents from the contents DB(222) according to the request of the user and provides the extracted contents to the MS(11) or the user PC(17).
