<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-speed color image processor that minimizes the variation of the compression rate of an image as much as possible depending upon the contents of the image and, in addition, guarantees the execution of data expansion and compression so that the execution may be in time for the printing operation of a printer. SOLUTION: This color image processor uses a compressing means which compresses images at a fixed rate regardless of the patterns of the images, an image memory which stores at least one-frame of compressed data, and an expanding means which outputs image data synchronously to the printing operation of an output device. The processor compresses data read from a scanner in real time, stores the compressed data in the image memory, reads out the compressed data from the memory synchronously to the printing operation of the output device, and expands the read-out data by using the means and memory.</p> |
