PURPOSE: A cerium oxide-based composition and its preparation method are provided, which composition is sintered at a temperature of 1,600 deg.C or less to form a sintered body having a theoretical density of 95% or more applicable to a solid electrolyte used in a device such as a solid-state oxygen generator. CONSTITUTION: The cerium oxide-based composition comprises the composition represented by LnxLn'xAyTizCe(1-x-x'-y-z)O(2-δ), wherein Ln is Sm, Gd or Y; Ln' is La, Pr, Nd, Pm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb or Lu; A is Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba; 0.05<=x<=0.25; 0<=x' <=0.25; 0<=y<=0.03; 0.001<=z<=0.03; 0.05<=x+x'<=0.25; 0.001<=y+z<=0.03; and δ is a number making the composition be charge neutral. Also the cerium oxide-based composition comprises the composition represented by LnxTizCe(1-x-z)O(2-δ), wherein Ln is Sm, Gd or Y; 0.05<=x<=0.25; 0.0025<=z<=0.02; and δ is a number making the composition be charge neutral. |
