摘要 PURPOSE: An addressing method and an addressing apparatus of a plasma display panel are provided to lower an output voltage of a data driver by applying an auxiliary voltage to an auxiliary electrode and performing addressing process using the auxiliary voltage, a data voltage, and a scan voltage. CONSTITUTION: A discharge cell is formed with a scan electrode(72Y) and a sustain electrode(72Z) formed on an upper substrate(70) and a data electrode(60X) and an auxiliary data electrode(60A) formed on a lower substrate(68). The scan electrode(72Y) and the sustain electrode(72Z) are formed in parallel on an upper substrate(70). An upper dielectric layer(74) and a protective layer(76) are laminated on the scan electrode(72Y) and the sustain electrode(72Z). A plurality of wall charges are formed on the upper dielectric layer(74). The protective layer(76) is used for preventing a damage of the upper dielectric layer(74) and enhancing emission efficiency of the secondary electrons. during a plasma discharge period. The data electrode(60X) and the auxiliary data electrode(60A) formed between dielectric layers(67A,67B) of the lower substrate(68). A barrier rib(64) and a fluorescent body(66) are formed on the dielectric layers(67A,67B). The barrier rib(64) is used for preventing leakage of discharge cells due to ultraviolet rays or visible rays. The fluorescent body(66) is used for generating the visible rays. An inert gas is implanted into a discharge space between the upper and the lower substrates(68,70) and the barrier rib(64).
