PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can continue printing even when there is a print head that can not perform adequate printing. SOLUTION: The printer as an automatic metering/wrapping/price-adding device 1 comprises a plurality of print heads which can operate at the same time. The automatic metering/wrapping/price-adding device 1 has a plurality of printing tables TA wherein a condition for distributing a final printing content to image memories 21m, 22m storing image data to be printed by the print heads 21, 22 corresponding to printing colors is described. When a defective head is detected, the printing operation is interrupted. The printing table TA is replaced with one wherein a condition of not using the defective head is described and controlling of the printing is executed by using the other good head instead of the defective one. As a result, it is possible to continue the printing in a simple structure.
