PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device having a single transistor voltage resonant inverter using a bipolar transistor as a main circuit having a control circuit of an integral circuit, and a lighting system using it. SOLUTION: The single transistor voltage resonant inverter main circuit HFI is formed using the bipolar transistor Q1 switch-on of which is controlled by feedback control, its input end is connected to a DC power supply DC, a high frequency output is outputted from its output end, and discharge lamps DL1, DL2 are energized by the high frequency output, in this discharge lamp lighting device. This discharge lamp lighting device is equipped with a control circuit CC provided with a timer circuit TC to start operating and to determine the operating time of at least a preheating mode, a starting mode and a lighting mode when the power supply is thrown in and the integral circuit IC containing an oscillator OSC to control switch-off of the bipolar transistor Q1 of the single transistor voltage resonant inverter main circuit HFI by generating a control signal having a cycle controlled in response to at least the preheating mode, the start mode and the lighting mode. |
