<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and the manufacturing method therefor wherein the number of masks and process time can be reduced. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a gate line to which a scanning signal is supplied, a data line to which a data signal is supplied, a pixel electrode formed in a pixel area formed by intersecting the gate line and the data line and driving a liquid crystal cell, a thin film transistor for switching the data signal to the pixel electrode responding to the scanning signal and an alignment layer protecting signal wirings and the like including the gate line, the data line and the pixel electrode and the thin film transistor and applied on the entire surface of a substrate for the purpose of determining the initial alignment layer direction of a liquid crystal. The functions of a protective layer and the alignment layer can be simultaneously performed by patterning the pixel electrode on a source and a drain electrodes and then immediately vapor-depositing polyimide resin on the entire surface of the pattern from a stage for forming a substrate to a stage for forming the alignment layer in the manufacturing process of the liquid crystal display device.</p> |
