SUBSTRATE FOR INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for an information recording medium, whose flying height can be made smaller, without causing head crush and thermal asperity, and to provide a method for manufacturing the substrate for the information recording medium. SOLUTION: The final grinding of this substrate for the information recording medium is carried out, by using an abrasive, whose average particle size is <=1.0μm and whose maximum particle size is <=3.0μm and the finally ground substrate is, furthermore, etched by an acidic aqueous solution.
