PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for measuring a two-dimensional distribution state of an eyeground coloring matter, particularly, a yellow spot part coloring matter xanthophyll. SOLUTION: The device and a solving method therefor are composed of a lighting system for illuminating a retina via an illuminating optical path collimated to the eyeground, an observation optical system arranged in an observation optical path communicating with the eyeground, an image processing unit, a light beam deflecting element, and a central control evaluating unit, and record a two-dimensional reflected image of the retina in a selected narrow band width wave length area, determine a specific area for calculating optical density and a comparison value in the evaluation work, and determine the optical density in respective eyeground places from a negative logarithmic value to the ratio of reflected image intensity IR(λ) in the eyeground places to comparing reflected image intensity IR(λ)comparison , and objectively seize an optical density two-dimensional distribution state of the yellow spot part coloring matter xanthophyll, and are suitable for measuring the distribution of the other eyeground coloring matter as a rule.
