PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocusing camera capable of realizing accurate focusing regardless of the position of a subject within an image plane. SOLUTION: This AF camera is provided with a range-finding part (sensor arrays 2a and 2b and light receiving lenses 3a and 3b) measuring a distance for focusing by using the image signals of a plurality of range-finding points within the image plane including the center point of the image plane, and equipped with a means (CPU 1 and control program) selecting the result of range-finding for focusing (subject distance) according to the pattern of the spatial frequency or the amplitude of the image signal or selecting the subject distance according to the pattern of the image signal and the obtained distance. Then, the AF camera has a means for making the result of the range-finding showing a distance equal to or shorter than a specified distance ineffective when the result of the range-finding other than the center of the image plane shows the distance equal to or shorter than the specified distance and the spatial frequency of the image signal which the distance equal to or shorter than the specified distance is obtained is sparse. |
