PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film-forming agent for coating a vehicle enabling the protection of a painted surface and at the same time imparting hydrophilicity to it without using a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: The film-forming agent for coating a vehicle comprises a base material mainly composed of a wax component and inorganic flaky particles having an aspect ratio (a ratio of the major axis to the thickness) of 10-300, an average particle size of <=3μm and a specific surface area of 30-500 m<2> /g dispersed in the base material. The inorganic flaky particles preferably consist of a laminar polysilicic acid selected from silica-X, silica-Y, margarosanite and kanemite.
