PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic composition which covers melasmas and freckles and simultaneously gives a natural skin color finish, when coated on a skin. SOLUTION: This cosmetic composition is characterized by having a white pigment coating layer on the surface of a powdery material having a refractive index of 1.6 to 1.7 and further having a colored pigment coating layer on the white pigment coating layer. The powdery material having the refractive index of 1.6 to 1.7 is especially barium sulfate or alumina, and the average particle diameter of the powdery material is 1 to 30μm, preferably 5 to 20μm. The white pigment is preferably a metal oxide having a high refractive index, especially preferably titanium dioxide. The colored pigment is preferably selected from yellow iron oxide, black iron oxide and red iron oxide.
