PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device capable of enhancing the recognizability of a map. SOLUTION: A vehicle occupant needs more two-dimensional map information for areas ahead of the vehicle than for areas behind; by reducing the amount of map information for areas behind the vehicle, it is possible to make the occupant precisely recognize the map information for areas ahead of the vehicle. The recognizability of the map can thus be enhanced. In this embodiment, a map display area 1R is trapezoidal, so the amount of map information for areas behind the vehicle is smaller. |
