INK CARTRIDGE WITH COLOR DISCRIMINATION STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved color discrimination structure which can maintain the discrimination function even when it is used in an ink cartridge including ink of different colors. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge for an ink jet printer includes a housing for supporting an ink supply part in a cavity set inside, and the color or ink type discrimination structure connected to the cartridge housing which is a nearly cylindrical structure having a keyway formed therein when assembled. The color or ink type discrimination structure can indicate an ink color or ink type of ink in the cartridge when directed to one of a plurality of allowable directions through rotation about a center axis of the cylindrical structure. Thus, colors can be discriminated even when the same structure or parts are used in different cartridges including ink of different colors.
