MEASURING METHOD AND APPARATUS OF RAIL TEMPERATURE OR GAP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously obtain the amount of gap in a rail and the temperature at the lower portion of the rail with one operation at each measuring point. SOLUTION: At the reference point of a rail, a measuring block is pressed to a rail head section and a rail bottom section to measure a temperature t1 at the head section of the rail and the temperature t2 at the bottom section of the rail for obtaining the temperature differenceΔt. At each rail measuring point, the measurement block is inserted into the rail gap for measuring the amount of gap in the rail, and at the same time a rail head section temperature t1 is measured, thus obtaining the temperature at the rail bottom section at the measuring point by t1-Δt.
