PURPOSE: A portable terminal having a memory module is provided to record lecture contents or dialogue contents for a long time, selectively listen to the recorded contents, and download the recorded contents to an external computer by composing an expanding memory for storing a sound signal. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal(10) converts a sound signal inputted through a microphone(1) into a digital signal, and outputs the digital signal. A digital recorder memory module(11) connects to a bottom terminal(14) of the portable terminal(10), compresses the received digital signal, and stores the compressed digital signal. The digital recorder memory module(11) has a codec(3) for attenuating a noise of the digital signal outputted from the portable terminal(10), and a data processor and controller(4) for receiving an output signal of the codec(3), compressing the data, and decompressing inputted data. The digital recorder memory module(11) has a memory(5) for storing a signal digitalized by the data processor and controller(4), and a digital data output terminal(15) for outputting a sound signal stored in the memory(5) to an external computer, or receiving a signal from the external computer and storing the received signal in the memory(5).
