PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system and an information providing method by which a user can utilize a service center independently of whether or not a terminal of the user is provided with a communication means capable of directly communicating with the service center or a means for acquiring particular information. SOLUTION: The information providing system is provided with; the service center 3 for storing various information items; and first and second terminals 1, 2, the first terminal 1 includes a communication means 11 for making communication with the service center 3, the first and second terminals 1, 2 include an inter-terminal communication means 4, and the second terminal 2 acquires desired information from the service center 3 through the inter-terminal communication means 4 and the communication 11 of the first terminal 1.
