<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight of a device and extend the device's service life by reducing the device's heatgeneration and power consumption. SOLUTION: A microelectronic device 100 comprises at least two or more functional units 106 to 114. Based on the idea that all of the functional units on the die are not, and do not need to be operational at the same time, a determination is made as to which of the functional units indicated by a data block within a machine code instruction translated from a source code is needed for executing the machine code instruction. The input of clocks to the functional units, power supplies, and input signals are selectively controlled, whereby the heat dissipation and power consumption by the microelectronic device are reduced to reduce the size and weight of the device while extending the device's service life.</p> |
