FIELD: equipment for metal continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: pipe of mold has first lengthwise portion containing predetermined position of casting level. Said first portion includes heat insulation layer made in such a way that thermal resistance of mold pipe in first lengthwise portion exceeds that of its second lengthwise portion. Heat insulation layer fills zone between outer surface of mold pipe and spacing consisting no more than 75% of wall thickness of mold pipe and measured from outer surface of mold pipe. EFFECT: possibility for providing predetermined temperature profile on inner side of mold pipe and for optimizing growth of ingot envelope. 11 cl, 7 dwg
