PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that difference of pressure between the inside and the outside of a light guide causes inflation of a tube covering light guide fibers, damages the tube, and causes breakage of the light guide fibers during sterilization of an endoscope. SOLUTION: The endoscope 2 with a light guide 37, which illuminates a subject for observation and comprises a connector 42 to bind and fix at least an end of a light guide fiber bundle 41 and a covering tube 42 to cover the peripheral part of the light guide fiber bundle 41, is equipped with a communicating opening 45 to communicate between the inside and the outside of the light guide 37 at a rigid part where the light guide fiber bundle 41 is bound and fixed by the connector 42.
