PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer capable of preventing occurrence of a malfunction of a recording head in a stand-by state. SOLUTION: This inkjet printer comprises a recording head for ejecting ink to a recording medium by moving a stand-by position to a printing region, an ink cartridge for reserving the ink, an ink cartridge from the recording head to an ink supply passage, an intermediate ink reservoir section provided in the ink supply passage, a shut-off valve that is provided in the ink supply passage from the ink cartridge to the intermediate ink reservoir section for restricting the supply of the ink, and a shut-off valve control means for opening or closing the shut-off valve. The ink cartridge is disposed at a portion upper than the shut-off valve, the intermediate ink reservoir section, and the recording head. The shut-off valve control means allows the shut-off valve to be opened during at least a predetermined time period while the recording head is placed on a stand-by position, thereby applying a positive pressure to the recording head by a difference between hydraulic heads. |
