PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier device which can suppress the amplification gain difference between a plurality of signal lights having mutually different wavelengths small even in a simple device constitution if input signal power varies. SOLUTION: When the power of an input signal light varies, the amplification gain of the signal light is measured with a gain measuring instrument 31 and an EDF heating and cooling device 21 is operated through an EDF temperature control circuit 30 according to information on the amplification gain so that variance in gain among respective signal lights having mutually different wavelengths becomes minimum, thereby raising or lowering the temperature of an EDF14. Further, the attenuation quantity of a variable light attenuator 17 is varied through an attenuation quantity control circuit 22 according to the information on the gain to uniformly decrease the gain over the entire gain range, thereby forcing the mean value of gains of the signal lights having the respective wavelengths to be a specified value.
