PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording device that can solve the problem of a delay in a display start timing because of occurrence of pickup seeking in order to read searching information at displaying a still picture in the case of adding data such as the searching information to a JPEG file after recording the JPEG file to an optical disk. SOLUTION: An idle logic block is reserved as a File Tail of a UDF (Universal Disk Format) after a position to which searching information (in APP (Application data) 4) is scheduled to be placed at the time of recording of the JPEG file. In the case of adding the searching information, address information (an offset value) to skip the searching information is recorded in APP 5 in a way that the position of the address information comes earlier than that of the searching information. Then idle logic block is used for a moving destination of a marker segment such as a DQT (Define Quantization Table). In the case of displaying a still picture, the address information in the APP 5 is referenced not to read the searching information but to directly read the compressed data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
