PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holder which can be used as either an external oiling type or an internal oiling type according to the type of tools. SOLUTION: A first oiling passage 24b communicating with an oil sump 18 formed at a back of an adjust screw 17, and a second oiling passage 24c communicating with the oil sump 18 and an external oiling nozzle 22 arranged on a front face of a housing 1 are formed on the tool holder. A directional control valve 26 is installed in the second oiling passage 24c. A shank S of a tool T is inserted into a shank insertion bore 9 so as to bring a rear end face of the shank into firm contact with the end face of the adjust screw 17. In this state, the shank S is gripped by a chucking mechanism 12 arranged at a tip end portion of a spindle 7. According to closing or opening of the directional control valve 26, coolant supplied to the first oiling passage 24b flows from a tip end of a passage 20 of the adjust screw 17 into the tool, or is jetted from the external oiling nozzle 22 toward an outer periphery of the cutting edge of the tool T.
