PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press drive mechanism which has a simple structure without using a multi crankshaft and small rotational inertia force in a drive mechanism of a press having opposing slides. SOLUTION: Each slide moves toward or apart from the other slides by containing the press having two slides 14, 20 arranged opposingly each other, by connecting a single crankshaft 16 to each slide, and by rotation of the crankshaft. The drive mechanism is arranged under two slides and protected from oil leakage. A dynamic balancer is used so as to substantially balance press inertia force during operation, and as a result, 90% or more of the press inertial force in the vertical direction is balanced. The press can be stopped during within one rotation of the crankshaft by balancing the press inertia force in such a manner. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
