PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multinozzle type ink jet recorder having a plurality of nozzles elongated to cover the print width of a recording medium in which the electrical system is protected against damage even if a large quantity of ink being used in the recorder leaks to the outside of an ink container. SOLUTION: In the multinozzle type color ink jet recorder consuming a large quantity of ink, multinozzle type color ink jet recording heads of respective colors are connected with ink containers 27Y, 27M, 27C and 27B of respective colors through an ink supply passage 24 having a pump 25. Since the consumable ink containers 27Y, 27M, 27C and 27B are disposed lower than the parts/units of electrical system exhibiting a low degree of water tolerance, the parts/units of electrical system in the recorder is not damaged even if ink leaks from the ink container.
