PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer capable of suppressing an amount of ink to be sucked by raising or lowering the sucking speed, removing the ink adhered to a recording head, and enabling the stable ejection. SOLUTION: This inkjet printer comprises the recording head having a nozzle face with an ejection nozzle for ink, a sucking means for sucking the ink from the ejection nozzle, a cap member that covers the ejection nozzle to hermetically close the nozzle face when the sucking means sucks the ink, and an air ventilating means that communicates the inner space formed by the cap member and the nozzle face with the open air and switches between a condition for communicating with the open air and a condition for blocking the communication.
