PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic switch capable of improving assemblability. SOLUTION: A plurality of slits are provided in a tip side of a cover 23 installed on an outer circumference of a rod 10, elastic pieces 23f are formed between slits in a circumference direction, and engagement parts 23g are provided on outer circumferences of the elastic pieces 23f. The engagement part 23g engages with a collar 22 inserted in a round hole 9a of a plunger 9 to transmit the inertia force of the plunger 9 to a rod 10 when the plunger 9 is energized and pushed back by a return spring 21. The elastic piece 23f of a cover 23 is elastically deformable in the radial direction of the rod 10, elastically deforms inward in the radial direction when the rod 10 is inserted in the round hole 9a of the plunger 9 and the engagement part 23g gets over the collar 22, and expands outward in the radial direction and return to an original state after the engagement part 23g gets over the collar 22.
